What a contour brush can’t do

It’s easier to sell something by listing what it does. We’d rather start with the opposite, because that’s where disappointment lives — and a thirty-dollar disappointment ends in a refund, which helps no one.

It doesn’t erase wrinkles

No brush does. A wrinkle is a structural fold in the dermis; a stroke across the surface doesn’t change it. Well-hydrated, relaxed skin looks smoother for a moment, and that’s all you’ll see.

If you’re looking for an effect on wrinkles, a brush isn’t the right purchase, and we’d rather tell you up front.

It doesn’t firm

Skin firmness depends on collagen and elastin, which are produced in the dermis. Nothing that happens on the surface changes how much of them there is. Words like “firming,” “regenerating” and “anti-aging” describe physiological effects, and a product that claims them moves into a different regulatory category — in Canada, it then falls under Health Canada rather than cosmetics.

We don’t use those words, and not just out of legal caution: they would be false.

It isn’t a medical device

We don’t claim to heal, treat or correct anything. It’s a comfort tool.

It doesn’t work dry

This is the most common reason for “it doesn’t work.” Without a drop of plant oil or a little cream, the bristles catch instead of gliding, the skin pulls, and the ritual becomes unpleasant. Almost nobody mentions it on their product page.

It isn’t for everyone

Very reactive skin, rosacea, eczema, ongoing dermatological treatment: ask your doctor first. We don’t give health advice, and be wary of any seller who does.

What it does

It brings movement back to a face that has spent the night lying flat. Morning puffiness fades faster than it would have on its own, and the jawline looks defined again. The effect is mechanical, visible in a minute, and it lasts the day.

It’s modest. It’s true. And it’s the only thing we promise.
